Research domain: Applied and computational mathematics, mathematical materials science, microstructure reconstruction, visualization, characterization and simulation, dynamical cell complexes, mean curvature flow, digital geometry and Mathematical Morphology, digital image processing, condensed matter, computational physics, polyhedra. Current research interests: My research interests are currently divided between two primary areas: topological methods of characterizing the structure of large cellular and atomistic data sets, and the short- and long-term evolution of dynamical cell structures which arise in polycrystalline materials, soap foams, biological tissues and international borders. Both areas have important applications in understanding the physics of materials. Following is the detail of my current focus points: 1. Metric and topological properties of grains in three dimensional microstructures 2. Development of optimal three-dimensional digital image based techniques for reconstruction, visualization, modeling and simulation of microstructures. 3. Long- and short-ranged topological correlations and there effects on different relationships of metric and topological parameters of three-dimensional grains in polycrystalline microstructures. 4. Modeling grain growth rate based on topological correlations of 3D grains in polycrystalline microstructures. 5. Monte Carlo simulations of grain growth in polycrystalline materials 6. Linking Monte Carlo-Potts model and finite-element model for process–structure–property relations of polycrystalline materials
